WIN

OCTOBER 8

Experience this year’s FirstGlance Film Festival like one of the filmmakers – with an All-Access Pass!

10:40 PM posted by Roxanne Cooper
categories | Give-aways, Movie Passes

City Paper and FirstGlance are in a giving mood and will be granting 2 lucky individuals each a pair of passes to get you (and a friend) into all of the screenings and after parties.

Maybe you want to see an award-winning documentary about a Coney Island sideshow, or is a feature length film about unemployed Easter Bunnies more your style? Either way, grab a date and grab your All-Access Pass and head on out to the 11th Annual FirstGlance Film Festival.  Enter here to win!

 Win Passes to see “Quarantine”

Someone needs a hug.

Fans of Showtime’s series “Dexter” will find a familiar crying/screaming face on the promotional images for the new film “Quarantine.”  Dexter’s foul-mouthed sister Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) is trading in her cop costume to play an ill-fated news reporter this time around.

If movies that scare you out of your seat are your kind of scene, then I recommend entering to win passes to see this flick.

Do you like to laugh? Have fun?

Me talk pretty.

Anyone who has heard David Sedaris read his own works out loud would JUMP at the chance to see him in his one-night engagement at the Academy of Music.

If you are a fan of laughter and fun, enter to win some of the best seats in the house on October 14th as Mr. Sedaris regales the audience with recollections and readings from his brand new collection entitled “When You Are Engulfed in Flames.”

So enter here to win, and if you do - make sure to arrive prepared to laugh.  If moments of spontaneous hilarity cause you to lose control, don’t forget your Stadium Pal.

(If you aren’t one of the lucky ones, tickets are available at www.kimmelcenter.org or by calling 215-893-1999)

Fans of Mike Regan in all ages

Taking a cue from our fearless leader, I’d like to celebrate Mike Regan’s show opening with a segment I’ll call “Marketing Director’s Clearinghouse” in which I will begin to rid my overstuffed Free Gift closet of its skeletons.

From which bastion of higher education did Mike Regan receive his BFA?  Riddle me this, and the first person who does will receive a framed Michael Regan original to call their very own.  E-mail your answer/wild guess to natalie(at)citypaper(dot)net.

The Lucky Three
2008 Lionsgate

Enter to win run-of-engagement passes to see Tim Robbins, Rachel McAdams, and Michael Peña in “The Lucky Ones.”  The film follows three newly-returned soldiers as they adapt to life after Iraq.

Judging by the cast list alone, I’d say you would want to take a chance on these tickets.

Get Back.

If you are longing to relive the days when gas cost $.31 a gallon (or live it for the first time), take a trip back to the 1960’s on City Paper. If your memories have lost their meaning, you can search for them with the cast of “She Loves You” at Society Hill Playhouse.

This limited engagement production weaves its tale with Beatles music, classic TV footage, commercials from the era, and other classic clips.

Being for the benefit of our readers, City Paper wants to help you jog your memories by giving away tickets to this show.  So take Desmond by the hand and enter here to win!

(”She Loves You” is now showing at the Society Hill Playhouse.  Tickets can be purchased at SheLovesYouYeahYeahYeah.com)

The summer of 08 might be in its final throes, but there are still a few straggler blockbusters to be seen.

“Eagle Eye” stars Shia LaBeouf and Michelle Monaghan and, from the looks of it, is intense (see intense production photo to the right).  If you’re in the mood for INTENSE, maybe you should enter to win passes.  Just a suggestion.

PS - Does anyone remember “Eagle-Eye Cherry?”  I just did!

Gael Garcia Bernal.

That’s all I needed to hear.

If you, however, need more convincing… The website should have all the information you require to make the decision to enter to win passes to the screening.

Personally… he had me at “Y tu mama…”

Refreshing.

If you had the shopping itch for the King of Prussia Mall this weekend, you may have stumbled upon the Denim Runway Show outside of Bloomingdales.

City Paper had the itch as well and was on-site for Denim Day. Along for the ride were 3 beautiful musicians whose raw musical talent is matched only by their ability to pull off bangs and scarves in summer - (from left) Anna Christie Sadler of Sisters 3, Allison Polans of papertrees, and Bevin Caulfield of Quintero. The ladies handed out cd samplers and created outfits as guest stylists. They were such rock stars that we even had them pose for a little product placement photo-op for Dry Soda.

By the way, Bloomindale’s has petite premium denim now and at 5′5″, this Marketing Director fits the bill (and the boot cut jeans)!
